A day at Wattlebrook
What a Tuesday looks like.
From breakfast club to the last bell. Every class follows the same rhythm, so children always know what comes next.
Before school care
Breakfast and quiet games in the hall, run by our care team.
Doors open
Students settle into class. Teachers are at the door if you need a quick word.
Literacy
Reading, writing and spelling in small groups, every morning.
Recess
Fruit first, then the oval, the courts or the library.
Numeracy
Hands-on maths, then practice at the level each child is ready for.
Lunch
Eating together in class, then play. Garden club meets on Tuesdays.
Specialists
Music, PE, Indonesian or visual art, with specialist teachers.
Home time
Pick-up at the front gate, or after school care until 6:00pm.
Learning
Strong in the basics, generous with the rest.
Literacy and numeracy every morning, taught at the level each child is ready for. Then music, sport, the garden, and care before and after school.
Literacy and numeracy
Two hours every morning in small groups, with extra help or extension where it is needed.
Music
Music every week for every class. Ukulele from Year 3, the school band from Year 5, and the concert in November.
Kitchen garden
Each class looks after a bed. What we grow goes into Friday cooking and the canteen.
Sport and PE
PE twice a week, swimming in Term 4, and the athletics carnival on our own oval.
Library
Open every lunchtime. Take-home books are matched to the level each child is reading at.
Before and after school care
On site from 7:30am to 6:00pm, with breakfast in the morning and a snack after school.
From the principal
Families tell us the same thing after a tour: it feels like a school where the children are known. That is what we work at every day.
Yes. Families who live in the zone are guaranteed a place. Families outside it are welcome to apply, and we take as many as we have room for. The office can check your address.
What are the school hours?
Doors open at 8:45am and the day finishes at 3:15pm. On the last day of each term we finish at 2:30pm.
Is there before and after school care?
Yes, on site from 7:30am until 6:00pm, with a full-day program on curriculum days.
Does my child need a hat?
From September to the end of April, and whenever the UV is 3 or above, students wear a broad-brimmed or bucket school hat outside. The Sun Smart Policy has the details.
How do I tell you my child is away?
Call the office on (03) 5550 0143 before 9:30am, or reply to the morning text message.
Come and see a normal morning.
Tours run on Tuesday and Thursday at 9:30am and take about 45 minutes. You will see classes as they really are, and you can ask the principal anything.
